Super Mario Galaxy Film Teaser Debuts, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors

Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. The reveal happened in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that focused exclusively on the upcoming animated film.

The sequel to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will propel Mario to the far corners of the galaxy. There, he will encounter a new princess and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

A Space-Faring Quest Drawing from Classic Games

Much like the games from the Wii period that provide its foundation, Mario will venture away from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. During his grand adventure, he will reunite with some familiar faces, for instance the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.

But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who apparently commands metallic abilities. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also includes nods to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Celebrity Voice Actors Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers

The movie will welcome back of the primary vocal talent, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.

Mario's Major Moment

The upcoming Mario film is set to release close to the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Beyond the film, 2026 looks set to be a important time for Mario and his allies.

The company has a set of three fresh titles officially announced for that year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Premiere Date Announced

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
